Out of Hand: Materializing the Postdigital
Computer-aided design has been around for decades, but architects and designers have only recently begun to put such technologies as CNC and 3D printing into practice, creating mind-bending buildings, furnishings and more. Encompassing everything from architecture to jewelry, this exhibit delves into the explosion of digital fabrication in the 21st century through such examples as Jürgen Mayer H.’s Metropol Parasol in Seville, light fixtures by Materialise, and the novel forms created by Ron Arad, Anish Kapoor, Marc Newson and others.
