Michigan Modern: Design that Shaped America

This symposium continues the exploration of Michigan’s contributions to Modernism that began at the Cranbrook Educational Community in 2013. Michigan has been a center of modern design since the turn of the twentieth century. The convergence of influences in Michigan, from industrial design to the automotive industry, defined modernism in the postwar wold and shaped the American dream.

Join us June 19-21, 2014, as the Michigan State Historic Preservation Office, in partnership with Kendall College of Art and Design and the Grand Rapids Art museum, highlights the impact Michigan designers and industries had on American culture and their worldwide influence on Modern design.

AIA credits will be available on selected tours.
