Archtober (ärk’tōbər) is the third annual, official New York City Architecture and Design Month. With 31 days and more than 51 venues, AIA New York and the Center for Architecture have organized a long slate of activities, talks, tours, parties and exhibitions. The calendar comprises 150 curated programs hosted at the Center for Architecture and other city institutions including the Guggenheim Museum. The full calendar is available at: www.archtober.org.
· October 1st: Practical Utopias opening at the Center for Architecture, featuring global urbanism and recent design in five Asian cities (Jonathan D. Solomon curator).
· October 7th: Colloquies on the future of urban housing at the Center for Architecture. Come celebrate World Architecture Day and the Center for Architecture’s 10th Anniversary.
· October 16th-20th: The Architecture and Design Film Festival at Tribeca Cinemas.
· All month: Municipal Art Society of New York and AIANY/Center for Architecture walking tours.
