AIA Wisconsin Presents Annual Design Awards Featuring Keynote Address by Jon Pickard

Celebrate excellence in architecture by participating in the presentation of the 2014 AIA Wisconsin Design Awards. This year’s awards presentation will be preceded by a special keynote presentation on “The Workplace of the Future” by Jon Pickard, FAIA. The keynote address is sponsored by J.H. Findorff & Son.

Daylight. Fresh air. Space. Nature. Nourishment. Exercise. All simple precepts, yet all critical design factors in the creation of today’s healthy and productive workplaces. This special keynote address will examine how these significant factors impact the design of contemporary and future high-performance workplaces. While directly contributing to a project’s overall sustainability, they also positively affect a client’s bottom-line by supporting recruiting and retention, increasing productivity, promoting well-being and sparking creativity. Using project examples, design strategies applicable to buildings of varying scales and programs will be identified that have been well received by employees and management. How subtle calibrations of design elements can increase collaboration and innovation to support a client’s business strategy also will be discussed.

Immediately following the keynote address, the Design Awards Committee will present the 2014 AIA Wisconsin Design Awards to the architects, owners and contractors responsible for the building projects selected to receive Honor Awards, Merit Awards and Special Recognition. Join the celebration of design excellence and enjoy a special presentation on each award-winning project.
