Here’s another bad sign for the shaky real estate industry: The California Real Estate Journal, CA’s only statewide commercial real estate publication, is folding. The last issue of the weekly will be on April 5. We received confirmation from the CREJ this morning, but have not yet been able to speak in depth to anyone there. More word as we get it.. For what it’s worth, the pub has received 20 regional and national awards for excellence in journalism. Ah, excellence in journalism. What a quaint phrase..

We heard the same yesterday. This is a great loss for the real estate — and in many ways — the architecture community. CREJ was the one publication focussed solely on California Real Estate (hence the name !). Globe St., however, can help fill the void with its Western U.S. coverage.
As a real estate appraiser with a broad practice, I too will miss the excellent info provided by the CREJ. Have to wonder if electronic delivery might have made a difference.
It was my honor to have launched the Northern California Real Estate Journal in 1986 and the Southern California Real Estate Journal in 1988. They were sold to the Daily Journal Corp. in Dec. 1989 and merged into the California Real Estate Journal. I had the honor to work with some very talented journalists during that period. I met some very interesting people in California’s commercial real estate industry. This is a sad day for California real estate and journalism.
