Wells Street Bridge Rehabilitation: A Moveable Monument Restored

Since its construction in 1922, many changes have been made to the Well Street Bridge and bridge houses that have chipped away at the clarity of their original designs. The bridge houses retain much of their historic integrity, but original materials have deteriorated and modern equipment has been inappropriately added. Working closely with a large engineering team, the architects for this project are guiding preservation and restoration of the defining features of this historic structure. Speakers: Bill Grosche, AIA, and Carri Andrews, Assoc AIA, Johnson Lasky Architects; (Tentative) Terry Sullivan, Muller and Muller. A Preservation Snapshots Lecture presented by Landmarks Illinois.
