First Friday

Join TsAO & McKOWN at its office for drinks, informal conversation, and a behind the scenes look at recent and upcoming projects. This program is part of First Friday, a monthly opportunity for League members to visit the offices of leading design practices to see work on the boards and learn more about the offices’ organization and design processes. These informal social gatherings feature happy hour drinks arranged by the host office.

Founding partners Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown take on the widest possible range of project types and scales across a global span of cultures and locales, knowing that each markedly diverse experience will serve to inform the next, build knowledge of the tangible matters of design, and provide other unique insights. “Whether the project is a table, a room, a high-rise, or an urban plan, attention to the points of intimate, tactile engagement between the individual and the larger built environment is critical to our approach,” says Calvin Tsao.

Projects currently in development at the firm include a mixed-use development in the central business district of Dalian, China; the master-planning of a suburban residential community outside Taipei; a holistic wellness-oriented hotel and residential retreat on a lake near Shanghai; and others including wall-covering designs for Wolf Gordon; a high-rise apartment building in Hong Kong; and a house in Pound Ridge, New York.

First Friday events are free and open only to League members, who may bring up to one non-member guest. RSVP required to rsvp@archleague.org. To become a member and attend this program, join here.
