ONE Lab: Future Cities Summer 2012 At The New York School For Design + Science

Terreform ONE Co-Founders Maria Aiolova and Mitchell Joachim present ONE Lab Summer 2012, a month long intensive program that educates the future creators of urbanity. Future Cities, a Socio-Ecological Exploration of the Next Metropolis, is the selected theme for the fourth ONE Lab organized by Terreform ONE.

ONE Lab, which runs from July 9th to August 3rd, 2012 in Brooklyn, NY, will address the emerging discipline of global urbaneering by assembling a wide range of innovators from fields as diverse as architecture, material scence, urban design, biology, civil engineering and media art, and features some of the most distinguished academics and professionals, including a host of TED fellows and speakers, such as Dr. Dickson D. Despommier, Vito Acconci, Natalie Jeremijenko, Marc Forens and Graham Hill, the founder of world renowned media outlet Treehugger.

ONE Lab was founded as an urban non-profit interdisciplinary group concerned with research and education at the intersection of design and science. It began as an extraordinary think tank of architects, engineers, media artists, biologists, ecologists, robotics physicists, inventors and planners seeking alternatives to traditional forms of teaching and professional practice. ONE Lab’s current research attempts to establish new forms of knowledge and new processes of practice at the interface of design, technology, engineering and biology.

ONE Lab, New York School for Design + Science currently operates out of the Metropolitan Exchange, a professional cooperative at 33 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, and is slated to begin its year-round programming when the historic renovation of Building 128 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard is complete in 2014.

Terreform ONE is currently accepting applications for ONE Lab: Future Cities Summer 2012 and registration for participation in the Design Studio, Future Cities Seminar and Future Cities Workshops. For information on how to apply to ONE Lab: Future Cities Summer 2012, please visit
