Moving LA: People-Powered Design, a New Ilan Dei Venice Exhibit
VENICE, CA—On October 11, Ilan Dei Venice – A Store & Project Lab will launch Moving LA: People-Powered Design, a month-long, pop-up exhibition and store featuring locally designed and manufactured products that empower Angelenos to actively use their bodies as they enjoy the natural environment. Ilan Dei Venice – A Store & Project Lab is a mini village that connects three individual areas of function: a retail storefront, an exhibition space, and a community gathering space. A portion of the proceeds from Moving LA: People-Powered Design will benefit Venice Family Clinic, a community health clinic that provides affordable, quality health care to 24,000 low-income, uninsured, and homeless patients each year through eight sites on the Westside of Los Angeles.
Moving LA: People-Powered Design will be curated by Stuart Karten, founder and principal of award-winning product innovation consultancy Karten Design. With extensive expertise in the health care field, Karten has taken on the mission of improving the health experience for people through product innovation. Featuring products such as carbon-fiber bicycles, stand up paddle boards, and skateboards by local designers, this exhibit hits at the core of Karten’s work. “I am lucky to live in an environment that not only is conducive to getting outside, but also sparks the creativity of those in it to drive new and innovative ways of engaging with that environment,” he says.
