Battery Park City and Battery Park: Downtown Landscapes

The parks and gardens of Battery Park City and Battery Park offer a snapshot view of urban landscape design from the 1980s to today, with many of the biggest names in landscape architecture and gardening on offer, from Michael Van Valkenburgh to Richard K. Webel to Hanna/Olin to Lynden B. Miller to Piet Oudolf, among many others, as well as such artists dedicated to public “placemaking” as Siah Armajani, Scott Burton, and Mary Miss. The tour is led by architectural historian Francis Morrone, the co-author of “The Guide to New York City Urban Landscapes,” newly published by W.W. Norton. Cost: $20 / $15 Members.
