The Fan Fiction Competition

Less than 12 hours are left for the contest deadline.
Please visit the contest website for additional info.

“Fan fiction is what literature might look like if it were reinvented from scratch after a nuclear apocalypse by a band of brilliant pop-culture junkies trapped in a sealed bunker…They’re fans, but they’re not silent, couch-bound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language.” — Lev Grossman, TIME, July 18, 2011

“Herodotus says, ‘Very few things happen at the right time, and the rest do not happen at all. The conscientious historian will correct these defects’.” — Mark Twain

What would the story line of architecture look like if it was reinvented from scratch? Which starchitects would make up the cast of your dramas? Which buildings would populate the backdrops of your global stage? Reality Cues is about making architecture in digital, interactive, and social media, where ownership is communal and subject matter changes as quickly as users can click the ‘share’ button. Within this culture of reposting, reblogging, and retweeting is the opportunity to retell and reinvent. Combine this with the ease with which anyone can alter images to create virtual worlds, and you are left with an increasingly fuzzy area between fiction and reality.
