Greening the Grounds @ Jane + Finch Design Competition

Spearheaded by the Black Creek SNAP (Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Plan) team of the TRCA (Toronto and Region Conservation Authority), the Greening the Grounds @ Jane + Finch Design Competition aims to revitalize Toronto’s San Romanoway Affordable Housing Complex.

This is a high profile pilot project that could serve as an urban renewal precedent for the hundreds of apartment complexes built in the Toronto Region in the ’60s and ’70s. It will showcase an opportunity to transform under-utilized, private open spaces into sustainable parks for the enjoyment of nature, the promotion of social development and the facilitation of community building.

Good design and forward-thinking ecological practices can positively impact the lives and well-being of residents in all socioeconomic communities – and a master plan is the road map needed to get this done. Submit your design by June 30 for a chance to make change happen (and take home $1000)!
