A Stapler Never Looked So Sleek: Tom Dixon's designer desk tools are sure to make every architect jealous

A Stapler Never Looked So Sleek: Tom Dixon's designer desk tools are sure to make every architect jealous

Perk up your home office with sleek stationery that doubles as a design artefact. The new range of glammed-up everyday utilities from British designer Tom Dixon features the minimalist, no-nonsense aesthetic we have come to expect from British design. Clad in copper, each piece exudes an understated glamor that speaks of old money. Five product lines form a family of quotidian items imbued with an unexpected luxury and durability–from staplers to tape dispensers and a desk tidy box.

TROVE is a series of black cast iron containers with magnifying pressed glass lids billed “not a conventional decorative accessory but a multifunctional design artefact,” according to the designer’s official website. Heavy and durable, each container is designed to “masquerade as a treasure box.”

TANK is a series of boldly-silhouetted vases made from mouth-blown clear glass with reflective handpainted copper detailing. Their generous proportions suit long-stemmed roses or smaller bunches, while the model with a bowl-like neck can hold dramatic bouquets for a coffee table focal point.

CUBE is a stationery set fashioned from zinc alloy and finished with a copper plate. Includes a pen, a desk tidy, stapler and tape dispenser with an industrial, angular look.

COG is a series of black ink rollerball pens made from precision-manufactured solid brass and includes a pen block inspired by British engineering.

Finally, ETCH is a line of perforated, pentagon-shaped tea light holders with a wood grain pattern inspired by nature. When in use, the flickering candlelight casts an intricate web of quivering yet geometric shadows on the nearest surface.

The range will be displayed at Maison & Objet 2015, which recently named Dixon “Designer of the Year” for 2014. The esteemed trade show explores home life and the art of luxury living.
